WHO ARE WE

We are a Non-profit that was formed in September of 2023 with the mission to bring 2 communities together to meet the needs of Charleston, Calhoun and Benton in the area of Food insecurities, clothing and household needs, handyman projects for those in need, companionship programs and more….

He is always looking over us so he will always be the first member of our team!!

On December 8th 2023 we tragically lost Frankie McCartney. We dedicate everything we do in his memory to honor our beloved founding member.  Below is the Bio he wrote to introduce himself to the HOPe community.

I’m Frankie and I’ve been married to Beth for nearly two decades now. She’s has been the “Mountain” to my “Dew” ever since we set out to leave a positive mark on a negative world. We have two children, two dogs, plenty of chickens and turkey. It’s arguable which of these love us the most … … we did have a hog but he left to be with the Lord. All of that to say, I wear many hats across Charleston and Calhoun as I believe the door should be opened when it’s God knocking. That’s why I accepted HOPe’s invitation when asked to join.

Lets Meet the Core Team!!!

President

I’m Jaime Scoggins. I am the President of HOPe. I am a mother of 4 and have 1 grandson. I have worked in the healthcare industry as a Pharmacy Technician for over 20 years and currently work for Tennessee Oncology preparing chemo for cancer patients. I started HOPe after a conversation with a friend about the needs of our community and often they are overlooked by the larger surrounding cities. I have been in need before and know how hard it is to find that beacon of light at the end of the tunnel.

LETS MEET OUR AMAZING VOLUNTEER TEAM

Debbie Nadeau - Lead Volunteer

I was born and raised in Davie Florida. I have been married to my best friend for 36 years. I have a beautiful daughter and an awesome son, 5 of the best grands anyone could be blessed with. My husband and I retired in 2017. We sold everything, bought a small RV and traveled the US for 3 years. We settled in Charleston, TN because it is a beautiful state and we felt at home here. We have not been here for almost 4 years. We have made some great friends.
I love all animals. Working in my yard is one of my greatest pleasures. I do volunteer work because the smiles on people’s faces when you make their day a little better, is priceless.

Riley Widener - Teen Volunteer

Riley came to us on the beginning of April and has assisted us with 2 community festivals, a wheelchair ramp project and has spent time with Debby and others in the pantry. He is a super polite, well-mannered young man and we are thrilled that he is on our team.
Riley attends Walker Valley Highschool and he love to play games and sleep in their spare time. (Typical teenager …)
Thank you, Riley for serving your community at such a young age!

Kaylee Brown - Teen Volunteer

Kaylee Brown has been with us since January of this year. She is a spunky, easy going teen who has been an awesome asset to our program. She has helped with a number of community events and numerous hours in the pantry helping with clothing sorting, pantry help and such. She recently graduated the 8th grade and plans to attend McMinn High school in the fall. In her spare time she loves playing Fortnite and spending time with her family. We are grateful to have Kaylee on our team.

Riley Carlisle has been with us since the beginning of our program. He has assisted with many projects including the cleaning up of our new pantry, building a handicap ramp with our handyman program, working at multiple festivals and helping elderly neighbors.
